We’ve been enjoying some very comforting images from the Prophet Isaiah thus far. But today we get something quite violent in the readings for Holy Mass. Isaiah declares, “I will make of you a threshing sledge, sharp, new, and double-edged, to thresh the mountains and crush them, to make the hills like chaff” (Is 41:15).
