Advent begins by lifting our eyes toward the horizon of the Last Day, the day when the Lord will come again, radiant with justice and mercy. Isaiah calls that day “the day of the Branch of the Lord.” He says, “On that day, the Branch of the Lord will be luster and glory, and the fruit of the earth will be honor and splendor” (Is 4:2-6).
